This webinar would provide a high-level overview of student data privacy requirements under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and related confidentiality obligations for school districts. The session would address common issues surrounding student records, including access requests, proper handling and disclosure of information, and steps districts should take to reduce the risk of privacy violations. The presentation would also discuss confidentiality considerations when responding to requests from outside agencies and highlight emerging concerns related to the use of artificial intelligence tools and student data, including the risks associated with entering personally identifiable information into third-party platforms.
